Our Story
Hi, we’re the
Bentleys.
We’re the family behind Sufficient Salve & Stitch Co. — and when we say small business, we mean small.
Just our family making small batches of skincare with simple ingredients like beef tallow, beeswax, Manuka honey, coconut oil, and other ingredients we feel good about using in our own home.
Our story started after my mom received her second cancer diagnosis. It caused me to take a much closer look at her diet and the products she had been using every day. As I started helping her replace things around her home, I realized our own family had never really stopped to think about many of the ingredients in the products we used either.
That sent me down a rabbit hole looking for simpler alternatives, and somewhere along the way I discovered beef tallow skincare.
After several months of buying tallow products for our family, my husband finally said, “Why don’t we just make this ourselves?”
So we did.
For the past two years, we’ve been making these products for our own family, learning what we like, changing what we don’t, and keeping things as simple as we can. Eventually we realized we wanted to share what we’d grown to love with other families, too.
That’s how Sufficient Salve & Stitch Co. began.

Our name, Sufficient, comes from something that has become increasingly important to our family: remembering that God is our provider and that His provision is sufficient.
We know 2 Peter 1:3 is ultimately speaking about God’s provision for our spiritual life and godliness—not skincare! But the verse reminds us to be grateful for what God has provided and to be thoughtful stewards of it. We love working with simple ingredients and creating products that we’re comfortable using on ourselves and our children.
We’re still a little family business, making products in small batches, learning as we go, and doing our best to make something genuinely worth sharing.
